June Update: Free Samples, New Programs & Upcoming Events

Well everyone, we made it! With the Provincial Restart Plan moving forward and the weather forecast calling for straight sunshine, summer is here and we couldn’t be more excited.

Here’s what’s happening in the Nimbus community this month:

Introducing the Nimbus CapU Pathways Program

We’re very excited to announce the launch of our Pathways Program, in partnership with Capilano University. Graduates of Nimbus Advanced Music Industry Diploma (AMI) and our Music Production, Recording and Business Diploma (MPRB) programs now have the ability to complete a Diploma in Arts and Entertainment Management at CapU in just twelve months. Those who complete the program will also be eligible to apply for CapU’s Bachelor of Performing Arts Degree.

The Pathways Program was designed to expand the opportunities available for Nimbus graduates to further their education in an accelerated format. The program also aims to widen access to industries where labor shortages exist, and help international students achieve eligibility for post-graduate work permits.

Free Sample Pack From The Panda Studios

If you haven’t checked out this free drum sample pack from our friend Sam Pura at San Francisco’s The Panda Studios, now is the time! You might find the foundation for your next track, or the missing element to tie your latest project together. You won’t know until you listen for yourself.

Path To Professionalism in the Music Industry Panel

On June 18th, Music BC x ADVANCE are coming together for a panel on career paths and how industry members can chart a direction for a professional life. The panel is free to attend and will be broadcast again on June 19th as part of the AMPED Virtual Summit presented by ADVANCE. This panel is meant for anyone pursuing a career in the arts, music or entertainment sector — especially those in the BIPOC community who are starting out in the industry. Happy Black Music Month!

Panelists include:

Nate Sabine (President, Music BC)

Siarrah Kane (Venue Support Specialist, Ticketmaster)

Jason Joseph (Floetic, Safe and Sound Entertainment)

Moderated by Kentya Kurban (Music BC, ADVANCE)

Upcoming Virtual Open House, Thursday June 24th

On a final note (no pun intended), our next Virtual Open House is coming up next Thursday, June 24th at 6pm. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our programs or the Nimbus experience, secure your spot and register now. We’ll be waiving the $250 application fee for anyone who attends!

That’s all for now! Happy Summer Solstice and we’ll see you in class on Monday.
